A protest outside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas by hundreds of striking casino workers took place on Thursday, as they called for progress in their stalled contract negotiations. The workers, represented by the Culinary Union, are seeking a new five-year union pay agreement.
The Culinary Union shared on X that 57 of its members were arrested during the demonstration. Images and videos circulating on social media captured workers blocking a road in front of the hotel, with police officers seen detaining and handcuffing some individuals.
The union posted on X: “Culinary Union members on strike outside @VirginHotelsLV while members are being arrested for non-violent civil disobedience.” It also confirmed that union leaders, including President Diana Valles, were among those detained.

Local authorities later reported that the road near the casino, temporarily shut down during the protest, had been reopened after the arrests.
The protest came just days before the Formula One Grand Prix event, set to take place in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is jointly owned by JC Hospitality, Juniper Capital Partners, Virgin Group, and other partners, according to the hotel’s website. The hotel has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
