West Ham players donned shirts bearing Michail Antonio’s name during their warm-up ahead of Monday’s pivotal Premier League clash against Wolves, demonstrating solidarity with their injured teammate.
The 34-year-old forward is currently hospitalized after being involved in a car accident on Saturday. Antonio underwent surgery on Sunday to address a lower limb fracture and will remain under medical care in the coming days.
The Jamaica international holds the title of West Ham’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League, netting 68 goals in 268 appearances.
Ahead of the match, West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen told Sky Sports:
“Everyone loves Mic; he’s a big character. Waiting for news on Saturday was tough. He’s not just a teammate but a long-time friend and a dad to beautiful children. I want to thank everyone for their support.
“As captain, I’ve seen the outpouring of messages for Mic. Life is bigger than football, and the most important thing is that he’s safe and here to share his story. He’s always been a warrior and a fighter, and I know he’ll come back stronger.”
Manager Julen Lopetegui echoed the sentiment, saying:
“Looking at the crash, it’s miraculous he survived. What matters most is the man—he’s a father, a brother. We’re relieved he successfully came through surgery.”
During the ninth minute of the game, fans at the London Stadium honored Antonio with a minute of applause.

West Ham also announced plans to auction the special “Antonio 9” shirts, warm-up tops, and match-worn jerseys to raise funds for the National Health Service (NHS) and Air Ambulances UK.
In a statement, the club expressed heartfelt gratitude to the emergency responders, air ambulance teams, and NHS staff for their exceptional care in the aftermath of Antonio’s accident.
