Angelina Jolie, celebrated actor and philanthropist, recently opened up about her children, including her 18-year-old daughter, Shiloh, who earlier this year dropped Brad Pitt’s last name and legally changed her surname to “Jolie.”
During her first talk-show appearance in a decade on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Angelina discussed her children’s evolving interests and goals. While many might expect the children of two Hollywood legends to gravitate toward the film industry, Angelina revealed otherwise.
When asked if her kids were interested in following in their parents’ footsteps, Angelina said, “I think some of them [would like to work] off-camera, behind the scenes, but they really, really wanna be — especially Shiloh — would really like to be private.”
Jimmy Fallon noted how challenging privacy must be for children born into fame, to which Angelina responded candidly, reflecting her family’s ongoing effort to navigate life in the public eye.
Shiloh’s recent decision to drop “Pitt” from her last name made headlines earlier this year. The name change on her 18th birthday fueled speculation about the state of Brad Pitt’s relationship with his children, which has been reportedly strained since Angelina filed for divorce in 2016. The filing followed allegations of an altercation on a private jet where Brad was accused of physically assaulting Angelina and their then-15-year-old son, Maddox.
While neither Brad nor Angelina have commented publicly on Shiloh’s decision, reports suggest Brad is “aware and upset” by the change. Sources have also noted that his contact with his adult children remains limited, with some reports indicating “virtually no contact.”
As Shiloh and her siblings continue to carve out their paths, Angelina remains a supportive and protective figure, championing their individual choices and aspirations.
