Anthony Joshua Suspended by British Boxing Board After Knockout Loss
British boxer Anthony Joshua has been handed a 28-day suspension by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois on Saturday, September 21, at Wembley Stadium.
Joshua, a former two-time heavyweight champion, was knocked out in the fifth round, marking his fourth career loss. The suspension is a standard “medical ban,” enforced by the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABCCS), which mandates a recovery period for fighters who lose by knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO).
The suspension is part of routine safety protocols applied to all boxers after such defeats.
Joshua’s previous losses include his 2019 defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr. and two consecutive losses to reigning champion Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022. His latest loss to Dubois has raised further doubts about his ability to remain competitive at the elite level.
