Lecturers at Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi, under the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), have commenced an indefinite strike to push for the resolution of longstanding issues with the university’s administration.
This decision was announced in a statement signed by ASUU’s Chairman, Auwal Hussaini, and Secretary, Yahaya Yakubu, following a meeting held on Friday, November 29, at the institution’s Yuli campus.
The union cited the lack of commitment from the university authorities in addressing their demands as the reason for the industrial action.
According to the statement, the strike is described as “total, comprehensive, and indefinite,” with academic staff instructed to suspend all activities, including teaching, marking, meetings, accreditations, and any other academic-related duties, until further notice.
The development signals a halt to academic operations in the institution, raising concerns about its impact on students and the academic calendar.
