The Super Eagles have landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano State after their challenging experience in Libya, where they were preparing for the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier. The Super Eagles, who left Nigeria on Sunday, faced unexpected travel disruptions as their flight was diverted to a remote airport, necessitating an additional three-hour journey by road to reach the match venue.
The situation deteriorated further when players, pilots, and other team members found themselves stranded at the Libyan airport for over 13 hours, lacking access to basic necessities such as food, water, and a place to rest. Images of the team sleeping on benches circulated widely on social media early Monday, prompting widespread condemnation from Nigerian authorities.
Fortunately, the team has now arrived in Kano following the clearance of their flight in Libya.
