China Hosts Internet Civilization Conference
The 2024 China Internet Civilization Conference commenced on Wednesday in Chengdu, located in Sichuan Province, southwest China.
The event focuses on fostering the spirit of the times and collectively enhancing civility in the digital space.
Over the course of two days, the conference has brought together representatives from central and local government bodies, leading news websites, heads of online social organizations, internet businesses, academics, and internet influencers.
Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee’s Publicity Department, delivered the keynote address at the event.
Participants at the conference emphasized the importance of promoting online civility to keep pace with the fast-evolving landscape of information technology.
They highlighted the significance of this effort as part of the broader goal to build a robust socialist culture and a powerful digital nation.
Furthermore, attendees called for increased efforts to champion socialism and boost positive energy online, while continuing to develop a positive and healthy internet culture and enhancing governance in cyberspace.
The conference was organized in collaboration by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, and authorities from Sichuan Province.
