Nigeria, along with Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, and Chad, will welcome Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi this month as part of his annual diplomatic tour. Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, is scheduled to embark on the visit from January 5 to January 11, 2025.
The announcement was made on Friday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, who disclosed that the visits are being conducted at the invitation of the respective countries.
This diplomatic tradition marks the 35th consecutive year that China’s foreign minister begins the year with an official visit to Africa, underscoring the nation’s enduring commitment to strengthening ties with the continent.
