In anticipation of the national youth conference set for early 2025, Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre has called on President Bola Tinubu to present a vivid and inspiring vision of Nigeria’s future over the next three decades.
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise program, Adeyemi emphasized the importance of offering a compelling picture to ignite hope and drive progress among young Nigerians. “The president needs to come with pictures, 3D representations of what Nigeria will look like in 30 years’ time,” he stated.
Highlighting the critical role of belief systems in sustainable development, Adeyemi noted that no leader could foster lasting change without shifting mindsets and reshaping cultural attitudes.
“You can’t create sustainable change unless you address people’s beliefs and their mindset,” he explained.
Drawing from his personal experiences, Adeyemi shared an anecdote involving a former governor who faced challenges with his team’s lack of vision.
“I once visited a governor who told me, ‘Brother Sam, my biggest problem is not infrastructure but mindset.’ He said even members of his cabinet didn’t grasp the importance of vision, with some questioning, ‘Will we eat vision?’ This highlights the need for leaders who understand and value collective development,” Adeyemi recounted.
The cleric also stressed the need for a leadership paradigm shift to achieve meaningful development in Nigeria. He linked this to the struggle many face with New Year resolutions, underscoring that sustainable change must originate from deep within.
“You can’t kill a habit; you replace it with a new one. Nature abhors a vacuum,” Adeyemi added.
