Delta Governor Celebrates Okonjo-Iweala’s Reappointment as WTO DG

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her reappointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, in Asaba on Friday, Governor Oborevwori lauded Okonjo-Iweala, a distinguished Deltan from Ogwashi-Uku, for her continued excellence in global leadership. He highlighted her pivotal role as Nigeria’s Finance Minister under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, where she spearheaded the country’s exit from foreign debt obligations.
Oborevwori expressed gratitude to WTO stakeholders for entrusting Okonjo-Iweala with a second term, emphasizing that her reappointment is a testament to her exceptional capabilities and achievements since her initial appointment in 2021.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Delta State, I congratulate a true ambassador of Delta and Nigeria, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on your reappointment as Director-General of the World Trade Organization,” the statement read.
He commended her for the dedication and expertise she brought to her first term, noting that her unanimous reappointment reflects the global confidence in her leadership.
“Our prayers are with you as you continue this remarkable journey, bringing pride and honor to Delta and Nigeria. We trust that you will build upon your outstanding legacy and achieve even greater milestones,” Oborevwori added.
