The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has temporarily paused the collation of results for the Edo State Governorship Election, which took place on Saturday.

According to SaharaReporters, INEC has already collated results from 16 local government areas, with only two remaining: Oredo and Ikpoba Okha, the two largest councils by voting population.

Prof. Faruk Adamu, the INEC State Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced the suspension, stating that the results from these two local governments were not yet available.

He said, “The results from the two remaining local governments are not ready. I cannot say when they will be, but let us reconvene by 5 p.m.,” expressing hope that the results would be finalized by then.
