The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted media reports claiming that former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is in their custody. In a statement issued by Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media & Publicity, the EFCC clarified that Bello is not being held by the agency.

Bello, who has been declared wanted in connection with an alleged N80.2 billion money laundering case, is still sought by the Commission. A valid arrest warrant remains in place for his apprehension.

The EFCC’s statement was made public on September 18, 2024.
