The Board of Directors of Julius Berger has announced the appointment of Engr. Goni Musa Sheikh as its new Chairman, effective April 1, 2025. This follows the planned departure of the current Chairman, Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, who will step down by March 31, 2025.
Engr. Goni Musa Sheikh is an alumnus of the University of Exeter, Camborne School of Mines, England, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Minerals Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science in Minerals Process Design Engineering from Imperial College, University of London.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers, Sheikh is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN), the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists, and the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society. He is additionally an Associate of the Camborne School of Mines. With over 35 years of extensive experience in Mining, Oil, and Gas, particularly in the public sector, Sheikh’s career began with the Nigerian Mining Corporation in Jos, eventually retiring as Federal Permanent Secretary in July 2015.
Sheikh currently serves as the Executive Vice Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources Limited and is a board member of Ezikel Refinery Limited, Nigserve Energy Services Limited, and Julius Berger Investments Limited. He also holds a position on the Shareholder Advisory Council of Julius Berger International GmbH. He joined Julius Berger’s board on July 1, 2019.
