Several Meta-owned platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, are currently experiencing outages, with users worldwide reporting issues accessing the apps. Staff at The Verge have confirmed error messages and loading problems, with similar complaints flooding social media platforms like Bluesky, X, and Reddit.
Affected users on Facebook are greeted with a message stating, “We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
Downdetector, a website that tracks service disruptions, shows significant spikes in outage reports across Meta’s services, including WhatsApp and Messenger. Instagram alone has logged over 70,000 reports, while Facebook has amassed more than 100,000 complaints, underscoring the scale of the problem.
Meta has not yet responded to requests for comment on the issue.
This incident follows a pattern of previous outages for Meta platforms, including a significant disruption in March and another in October 2022 that affected Facebook and Instagram.
