Famed Venomous Snake Expert Dies at 44 Following Green Mamba Bite
Known as “South Africa’s Steve Irwin” by some, Dingo Dinkelman built a large following with his daring interactions with venomous snakes. A quick search for his name on Facebook brings up videos of him handling a black mamba in the grass, rescuing a green mamba from a beach, and even lying face-to-face with a West African forest cobra. His work brought him widespread recognition and popularity within the venomous snake-keeping community.
Dinkelman, 44, tragically passed away following a bite from a green mamba that led to anaphylactic shock. The incident occurred a month prior, and his wife, Kristie, shared a statement expressing the family’s sorrow.
“Dingo fought incredibly hard throughout this very difficult period,” Kristie said. “We know he was determined to stay with us, and we are so grateful for that. Despite his strength and resilience, my beloved husband passed away peacefully today, surrounded by family.”
