The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has stated that it is neither aware of nor investigating the alleged disappearance of ₦180 million from the account of an NGO owned by social media personality Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, Otse claimed that ₦180 million had been transferred from the NGO’s account to an unknown account, leaving only ₦20 million. He also mentioned that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident.
“I haven’t been myself these past few days,” Otse said. “Someone hacked into our NGO’s website, and ₦180 million went missing. We’ve tracked the person, and one suspect is in custody. The account is now on Post No Debit (PND). Only ₦20 million is left, while ₦160 million was diverted. We’re heading to Jos to recover the funds.”
Despite his claims, Otse’s story has drawn skepticism, with many questioning the validity of his account.
When contacted for clarification on Saturday, FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed that the police command had no involvement in the case. “The FCT Police Command is not aware of any missing funds related to VDM, and no investigation is currently underway,” she stated. “The individual should clarify where the matter was reported, as there is no record of such a case with our command.”
Efforts to reach Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi for comment were unsuccessful, as phone calls and messages remained unanswered at the time of this report.
