The blaze reportedly started around 5 a.m. in the office of a pediatric consultant, damaging electronic equipment, machinery, books, office supplies, and part of the building’s roof.
While the incident caused significant material losses, hospital authorities acted swiftly to ensure the safety of patients as firefighters worked to bring the flames under control.
In a statement, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Ogunleye Omotayo, assured the public that the situation was effectively managed and posed no further threat.
“The fire incident caused no alarm, and everyone is encouraged to carry on with their usual activities without fear,” the statement read.
Omotayo confirmed that no lives were lost and emphasized that investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
He also clarified that despite some initial media reports, the fire was quickly contained, and normal operations resumed shortly after.
“Power has been restored, and work activities have resumed in the affected section,” Omotayo added, thanking hospital staff, the state Fire Service, and other responders for their swift action and support.
