A one-storey building on Abike Suleiman Street in the Lekki area of Lagos State was engulfed in flames, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA).
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed the incident in a statement, revealing that the agency responded swiftly after receiving distress calls by activating the State’s Emergency Response Plans and dispatching its Lekki-based Response Team.
Upon arrival, the LASEMA Shark Response Team discovered the building ablaze. Although the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined at the time of reporting, no casualties or injuries were recorded.
Oke-Osanyintolu highlighted the collaborative efforts of LASEMA and other emergency responders in preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
“The fire was successfully contained, preventing it from escalating to adjoining structures. The inferno has been completely extinguished, and the dampening down process has been concluded,” he stated.
Investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
