General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, has addressed the situation involving Ruth Ogunleye, a female soldier who was discharged from the Nigerian Army for medical reasons after alleging that she faced abuse from Colonel I.B. Abdulkareem.
During a live broadcast on TVC, General Musa stated that Ruth had made multiple allegations against several individuals who tried to help her, including himself and the current Chief of Army Staff. He stressed that he had never met Ruth in person. He explained that when her claims were raised, the appropriate procedures were followed, and medical professionals evaluated her, concluding that she had a mental health condition. Consequently, she was discharged from the army.
In General Musa’s own words: “She made accusations against me and the Chief of Army Staff, but for heaven’s sake, I have never met her. When she brought up the issue, we investigated it. The proper procedure was followed, and the doctor determined that she had a mental issue, which led to her discharge.”
