Governor Okpebholo Dissolves Ambrose Alli University Governing Council, Removes Edo State Hospital Management Teams

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions, including Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. Similarly, the governor has directed the immediate removal of the management teams of the Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City.
The announcement, made on November 20, 2024, was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., and further confirmed by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
According to the statement, the affected council members and hospital management staff have been instructed to hand over all government properties in their possession to the senior officers in their respective institutions.
“The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions in Edo State with immediate effect,” the announcement read.
It added, “Similarly, the governor has approved the disengagement of the management staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin City, effective immediately.”
These changes are part of ongoing efforts to improve governance and efficiency in the state’s educational and healthcare institutions.
