Guinness World Records Honors Ronaldo’s 900th Career Goal with GOAT Tribute
Cristiano Ronaldo’s remarkable feat of reaching 900 career goals has earned him a special acknowledgment from Guinness World Records. The organization subtly endorsed the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time) debate by responding to social media discussions with a GOAT emoji, further cementing Ronaldo’s legendary status in football.
This recognition followed Ronaldo’s historic milestone, which has solidified his standing as one of the greatest players in international men’s football and across club competitions. His achievement puts him ahead of rivals, including Lionel Messi.
In a late post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Guinness World Records shared a BBC tweet celebrating Ronaldo’s milestone. The post read, “900 career goals for Cristiano Ronaldo. Incredible. #BBCFootball,” echoing global admiration for the Portuguese star.
Ronaldo achieved this milestone during Portugal’s UEFA Nations League opener against Croatia. In the 34th minute of the match, he volleyed a cross from Nuno Mendes, leading Portugal to a 2-1 victory and marking a significant moment in his illustrious career.
With 900 goals across his international and club career, Ronaldo continues to stand apart. His closest rival, Lionel Messi, has scored 838 goals in 1,069 games since 2003. Other historic goal scorers include Josef Bican, with over 805 goals in more than 530 matches, and Romario, who netted 772 goals in 994 games.
These football icons represent the pinnacle of goal-scoring achievements in the sport’s history, with Ronaldo leading the charge into new territory.
