According to Sahara Reporters, a joint committee of the House of Representatives investigating the N15 million bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has asked the NCS to provide CCTV footage of Bobrisky’s time in prison.

During the committee hearing on Monday, officials from the NCS discussed Bobrisky’s transfer from the Medium Correctional Centre to the Maximum Correctional Centre in Ikoyi after a ten-day stay. This information was shared by Michael Benson, Deputy Controller General of the NCS, who oversees the Medium Correctional Centre.

Despite the details provided, the committee raised concerns, questioning the NCS about whether it was common practice for them to accept donations from inmates. As reported by Daily Trust, the NCS denied such practices.

Following this exchange, committee chairman Ginger Onwusibe requested the CCTV footage related to Bobrisky’s prison transfer.

The investigation was initiated after a leaked audio surfaced, alleging that Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, had paid N15 million to the EFCC to have money laundering charges dropped. He had been sentenced to six months for currency abuse, but reports suggest he may not have completed the sentence.

VeryDarkMan, also known as Martins Vincent Otse, attended the hearing alongside EFCC and NCS representatives, according to Daily Trust, while Bobrisky was absent. VeryDarkMan had previously expressed reluctance to testify due to Bobrisky’s absence but ultimately agreed after consultations with his lawyer and committee members.

During the hearing, VeryDarkMan reiterated the claims he had made in an earlier video and presented supporting evidence to the committee, including voice recordings, chats, and bank transaction records.

In response to the allegations, the EFCC has launched an internal investigation, and the Minister of Interior has opened a separate inquiry into Bobrisky’s claims of bribing prison officials.
