The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced that its recruitment portal is now open for tax officer roles, with applications beginning at midnight on November 2, 2024.
FIRS, via a post on X on Friday, outlined available positions for Officer I and Officer II roles across various regions in Nigeria. In the announcement, FIRS encouraged women, minorities, and individuals with disabilities to apply.
The open roles are distributed across eight states—Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo. Successful candidates should note, however, that they may be required to work in any FIRS location nationwide, regardless of their preferred posting.
To qualify, applicants must meet certain criteria, including being 27 years old or younger by December 31, 2024, and having completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program no later than December 31, 2021.
Educationally, candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree or HND with First Class or Second Class Upper Division in fields such as Accounting, Actuarial Science, Computer Engineering, Economics, Law, Mathematics, and similar disciplines. Advanced degrees and professional certifications (like ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, COREN, or NSE) are considered advantageous.
The recruitment process involves several stages, and only shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in assessments, which may include tests, interviews, and health checks.
FIRS advised applicants to be vigilant against fraud and only use the official recruitment portal: www.firs.gov.ng/careers. The submission deadline is November 14, 2024.
Candidates may only submit one application for their chosen location, as multiple submissions will not be accepted.
FIRS reiterated its commitment to equal opportunities for all qualified candidates, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or personal background.
