The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of retired AIG Bola Longe and retired DIG Moses Jitoboh.
According to reports from PUNCH Online, Longe died on Sunday, December 22, while Jitoboh passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, after a brief illness.
In a statement released on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP described the late officers’ contributions to the Nigeria Police Force as invaluable, noting that their dedication to service would never be forgotten.
Egbetokun acknowledged that their deaths represented a significant loss, not only to their families but to the entire police force. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families, colleagues, and friends of the deceased.
The statement further highlighted the distinguished careers of the late officers: Retired DIG Moses Jitoboh had served as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the Department of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) at Force Headquarters before retiring in 2023. Retired AIG Bola Longe had held notable positions, including Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State and Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Federal Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja, prior to his retirement in 2021.
“Both officers’ legacy of service, dedication, and integrity will remain a part of the Nigeria Police Force’s history,” the statement concluded. The IGP also conveyed his condolences on behalf of all officers and prayed for strength and peace for their families during this difficult time, while praying for the souls of the departed to rest in peace.
