The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to hold a mock voter accreditation exercise in preparation for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, scheduled for November 16, 2024.

The mock accreditation, slated for Wednesday, November 6, 2024, will assess the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the real-time upload of results to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

This information was disclosed by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, on Thursday. Olumekun encouraged registered voters at designated polling units to participate in the exercise, which will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The mock accreditation will be conducted at 12 polling units spread across six Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Ondo State, covering the three senatorial districts: Ondo Central, Ondo North, and Ondo South.

In Ondo Central, the exercise will take place in Akure South and Idanre LGAs. The selected locations in Akure South include Alagbaka Primary School and Ijapo High School, while in Idanre, Our Saviour Primary School and the open space near Plot 6, Owena, will be used.

For Ondo North, the participating LGAs are Owo and Akoko South West. In Owo, Methodist Primary School and Imade College Gate will serve as the centres, while in Akoko South West, the open space at Ago Ajayi, Oba, and L.A. Primary School, Oba, have been selected.

In Ondo South, the exercise will be conducted in Odigbo and Okitipupa LGAs. The chosen locations in Odigbo include St John’s Primary School and Isero Grammar School, while in Okitipupa, the open space at Oladipupo Lebi Street and Baptist Primary School, Ode Aye, will be used.

Olumekun further clarified that only voters with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from the designated units will be allowed to participate in the accreditation exercise, and BVAS will only process voters from the selected locations.

As of now, INEC reports that 55,859 PVCs have been collected by newly registered voters in the state.
