The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed The Lekki Headmaster, a novel by Kabir Alabi, as the designated book for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This announcement ends speculation about the official reading material for the upcoming examination.
Before this clarification, there had been widespread assumptions about potential books, but JAMB addressed the matter on Tuesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) account. The board officially announced that The Lekki Headmaster is the approved text for the Use of English paper in the 2025 UTME.
JAMB also assured candidates that detailed information about the registration process for the 2025 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) would be made available soon. The board urged all prospective candidates to stay updated.
“Attention prospective 2025 UTME candidates. The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba has been approved as the reading text for the Use of English,” JAMB stated on X. “Details on UTME/DE registration will be announced shortly. Please stay tuned for updates,” the statement added.
Furthermore, JAMB announced that the registration for the 2025 UTME will run from Monday, January 20, to Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Candidates are required to pay N3,500 for the JAMB form. Additional charges include N700 for registration, N1,500 for the examination fee, and N1,500 for the optional Mock UTME, which applies to candidates opting for private test centres.
