The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of a pastor, Mr. Sina Olaribigbe, allegedly by a jealous husband who suspected the cleric of having an affair with his wife.
The incident was confirmed on Thursday in Osogbo by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Yemisi Opalola.
According to Opalola, the estranged husband discovered the pastor at his wife’s residence and, believing they were romantically involved, attacked him in a fit of rage.
“The couple are currently separated but not legally divorced. The pastor had been mediating in their disputes, and on this occasion, he was at the wife’s house when the husband arrived,” Opalola explained.
She added, “The suspect, acting on suspicion and anger, stabbed the pastor multiple times, leading to his death at the scene.”
The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect is now in custody, and the pastor’s body has been moved to the morgue for autopsy.
Reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reveal that the suspect’s wife is an active member of the late pastor’s church, where she served as an interpreter.
