The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the voluntary surrender of a 20-year-old suspect, Umar Auwal—alias Abba Dujal—who admitted to committing multiple violent crimes, including homicides, armed robbery, and phone snatching across Kano and Jigawa states.
According to a statement by the police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Auwal surrendered following intensified security raids across strategic locations in the state aimed at flushing out criminals and safeguarding residents.
A resident of Wudil Local Government Area, Auwal confessed to killing several individuals during separate robbery incidents. He recounted how he fatally stabbed a man known as ‘Boka’ in Sabon Gari and stole his Infinix Hot 40i, which he later sold for ₦40,000. In another case at Kurna Quarters, he murdered a victim and took a Samsung S26 phone worth ₦160,000.
In Jigawa State, he admitted to killing a man in Ringim LGA and selling the stolen motorcycle for ₦300,000.
Auwal is currently in the custody of the Command’s Homicide Section at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where investigations are ongoing.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended Auwal’s decision to surrender, urging other criminals to follow suit, stating:
“Criminals will have no hiding place in the state. They should repent and surrender, as no stone will be left unturned in curtailing criminal activities.”
