Manchester United secured a much-needed 2-1 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund scoring to turn the game around after an early setback. This win ended a difficult stretch for United, marking their first triumph in over a month, and lifted them to 10th in the Premier League standings with 11 points from eight games. Brentford, meanwhile, dropped to 12th with 10 points.
The match saw controversy in the first half when Brentford took the lead. Ethan Pinnock headed in a goal during first-half stoppage time after United were temporarily down to 10 men, with Matthijs de Ligt being sent to the sidelines for treatment on a head injury, following referee Sam Barrott’s instructions.
However, United responded strongly after the break. Garnacho equalized in the 47th minute, connecting with a Marcus Rashford cross to fire a low shot into the far corner. The comeback was completed in the 62nd minute when Bruno Fernandes set up Hojlund with a clever back-heel, allowing the Danish forward to chip the ball over Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
