Martin Odegaard has pulled out of Norway’s upcoming international matches, a decision that eases concerns for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who is eager to see his captain fully fit.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who recently returned from a two-month absence due to an ankle injury, traveled to Oslo for a medical assessment to determine if he could participate in Norway’s Nations League games against Slovenia and Kazakhstan. However, after further evaluation, it was decided that Odegaard should continue his rehabilitation instead of risking further injury.
“I need to listen to my body, complete this rehab process, and get my foot back in good shape,” Odegaard explained.
Norway, currently in contention for promotion from Nations League Group B3, will be without their influential playmaker and veteran of 61 caps for these crucial fixtures. Meanwhile, Arsenal have had their own struggles in Odegaard’s absence, lacking creative depth and trailing Premier League leaders Liverpool by nine points. The Gunners will be counting on their captain to help reignite their campaign.
Odegaard recently made a short appearance in Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Inter and played a full 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Chelsea, showing resilience but highlighting the need for full recovery.
