Melania Trump Calls Husband’s Assassination Escape a “Miracle”

In a rare interview aired Thursday, former US First Lady Melania Trump described her husband Donald Trump’s near-assassination as a “miracle.” Melania shared that she was in New York in July when she saw live footage of the attempted shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin, opened fire on Trump from a nearby rooftop but was shot dead by a sniper. Trump escaped with a minor graze to his ear.

Melania praised the Secret Service agents involved, despite criticism over the security lapse. She also mentioned a second attempted attack in September at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course, which she similarly called miraculous.

In the interview, which marked her first media appearance in two years, Melania also spoke about her anger regarding the FBI search of the couple’s Mar-a-Lago resort in 2022 and criticized the way it was handled.

She expressed frustration that the media appeared to downplay the assassination attempt on her husband and voiced concern over the increasing hostility towards Trump, urging for unity in the country.

The interview coincides with the release of her memoir, “Melania,” set for October 8, ahead of the 2024 election, where Donald Trump is running for re-election.
