MTN Unveils 5G Digital Experience Centre in Abuja
MTN Nigeria has launched its first fully digital experience centre in Abuja, utilizing advanced 5G technology to enhance customer interactions. The facility, located at MTN’s regional office in Maitama, is designed to provide a range of digital services and solutions, underlining the telecom giant’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for improved user experiences.
Speaking at the unveiling on Wednesday, Ogunwa Nwoye, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Customer and Experience Officer, highlighted the centre’s role in showcasing the potential of 5G technology. “Today, we launched the first digital experience centre in Nigeria by any telecom firm. Our goal was to bring a digital immersive experience as close as possible to our customers and businesses,” she said.
Nwoye emphasized that technology is a key driver for unlocking Nigeria’s full economic potential. “MTN is a technology company that harnesses tech to enhance the lives of our customers and businesses around us. We believe Nigeria’s full potential can be reached through technology. That’s why we were the first to launch 3G, then 4G, and now 5G,” she added.
The centre, powered entirely by 5G, has been designed with local relevance, featuring Nigeria’s first digital kiosk, which allows customers to access various services independently, though staff support is available when needed. The services range from buying SIM cards, airtime, and data plans to purchasing 5G-enabled devices such as routers, with delivery options available nationwide.
In addition, the centre showcases smart home solutions, enabling users to remotely control home systems via data connections. Nwoye stated, “This isn’t just about data and devices; it’s about empowering people to live a breathtaking life. We want Nigerians to meet their full potential and unleash their creativity, as technology is the driving force behind their imagination.”
The Regional General Manager North MTN NG, ThankGod Otorkpa, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of digital transformation while maintaining human connections. “We are going digital, but we must not forget the human connection. Today’s event is about taking a step together into the future,” he remarked.
The event attracted a mix of select customers, brand influencers, and industry experts, all keen to explore the transformative power of 5G technology and its potential impact on various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
