Amid the ongoing Gaza crisis, Eliezer Feldstein, alleged to be an aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been arrested on suspicions of leaking sensitive intelligence. According to court documents, Feldstein is one of several individuals under investigation for the unauthorized release of classified information, which reportedly originated from Israeli military systems. The leak is suspected of undermining Israel’s capacity to negotiate for hostages currently held by Hamas in Gaza.

The controversy stems from claims, allegedly promoted by Netanyahu’s office, suggesting that Hamas planned to smuggle hostages out of Gaza through the Egyptian border. This information reportedly aimed to sway public opinion and generate pressure on Netanyahu to negotiate a ceasefire. While the PM’s office has denied any involvement, opposition leaders, including Yair Lapid, accused the administration of using leaked or falsified documents to create a public sentiment counter to a potential hostage exchange deal.

Families of hostages have further alleged that Netanyahu has blocked negotiations to avoid ending the conflict and facing political repercussions, such as a possible election. The crisis has escalated with little indication of an imminent ceasefire, as tensions continue between Israeli authorities and the families advocating for a resolution.
