As IGP Reaffirms Dedication to Enhancing Public Safety
In a series of targeted operations, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has achieved significant milestones in the fight against crime across the country. Reflecting the Force’s commitment to national peace and security, multiple high-impact arrests and recoveries have been recorded.
Key Crime-Fighting Achievements since October 1, 2024:
- Arrests Made:
- Armed Robbery Suspects: 371
- Kidnapping Suspects: 186
- Murder/Homicide Suspects: 242
- Unlawful Possession of Firearms Suspects: 63
- Rape Suspects: 217
- Cultism Suspects: 167
- Recoveries:
- Firearms: 210
- Ammunition: 3,172 rounds of various calibers
- Stolen Vehicles: 118
- Kidnap Victims Rescued: 64
One of the standout achievements is the arrest of a major arms dealer in Plateau State, identified as Jubril Musa, who was found in possession of a range of dangerous firearms and ammunition. Items recovered from the suspect included:
- 2 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition (long)
- 1 Makarov pistol
- 1 fabricated bronny pistol
- 1 single round of 7.8mm live ammunition
- 2 rounds of G3 live ammunition
- 4 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition (short)
- 1 single round of 9mm live ammunition
Jubril Musa reportedly confessed to supplying arms and ammunition to criminal groups, including bandits and kidnappers operating within Plateau State.


IGP Egbetokun has reaffirmed the NPF’s dedication to enhancing public safety, implementing tactical operations, intelligence-led policing, and engaging with local communities. Through a multifaceted approach, the Force aims to drastically reduce crime rates, particularly crimes like banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cybercrime.
