The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has approved a significant redeployment of senior officers within the Nigerian Army, assigning them to crucial command, staff, and training roles.
The changes were disclosed on Saturday in a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu. The restructuring affects top-tier positions, including Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, and heads of training institutions.
According to the statement, the reshuffle reflects the Army’s commitment to fostering a dynamic leadership capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
Among the new PSO appointments, Maj-Gen. LA Fejokwu moves from the National Defence College to lead the Department of Army Administration as the Chief of Administration (Army). Similarly, Maj-Gen. GU Chibuisi transitions from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre to head the Department of Civil Military Affairs, while Maj-Gen. AS Ndalolo, also from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, takes charge of the Department of Army Training as Chief of Training (Army).
For General Officers Commanding (GOCs), notable appointments include Maj-Gen. OT Olatoye, who shifts from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry to lead Headquarters 82 Division and the Joint Task Force (JTF) South-East Operation UDO KA (OPUK). Additionally, Maj-Gen. EF Oyinlola moves from the Department of Military Secretary to head Headquarters 3 Division as GOC 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH).
The acting roles of Maj-Gen. AGL Haruna (GOC 7 Division/Commander Sector 1 JTF North East Operation HADIN KAI) and Maj-Gen. IA Ajose (GOC 8 Division/Commander Sector 2 JTF North West Operation FANSAN YANMA) have been confirmed as substantive.
Lt-Gen. Oluyede urged all newly assigned officers to approach their roles with renewed dedication, particularly in advancing the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats. He also highlighted the importance of prioritizing troop welfare as part of their responsibilities.
