Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has confidently stated that no individual or group can obstruct his administration’s progress.
Speaking during a 2025 New Year State Banquet held at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday night, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining strong governance. He credited the unwavering support of prominent political figures and stakeholders, particularly those who laid the groundwork for Rivers politics, for his administration’s successes.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara expressed gratitude for the backing of key leaders, including former Governors Dr. Peter Odili and Sir Celestine Omehia, former Deputy Speaker Sir Austin Opara, and others such as Senators John Azuta-Mbata, Lee Maeba, and Prince Uche Secondus.
He emphasized that his administration’s focus remains on achieving its objectives, undeterred by detractors.
“We will defend the integrity of Rivers State at all costs. No one will take this state for granted. Regardless of the methods required, we will not relent in fulfilling our mandate,” Fubara declared.
The governor also underscored the importance of collaboration with trusted leaders, adding that opposition forces lacked the influence or credibility to challenge his government effectively.
“The foundation of Rivers politics lies with distinguished figures like Dr. Peter Odili. With his support and that of others, no opposition can stand against us,” he noted.
Reflecting on 2024, Governor Fubara described the year as a mix of challenges and achievements, with the latter outweighing the former. He expressed optimism about 2025, promising to build on past gains.
“We are determined to continue prioritizing the welfare of our people and advancing the Rivers First agenda. Our focus is on enhancing education, healthcare, and infrastructure while maintaining security,” he said.
Fubara highlighted plans for commissioning major projects in 2025, including a revitalized Fire Service, upgraded primary schools, and healthcare improvements.
“Education is a cornerstone of our development strategy. We have allocated substantial resources in our budget to revamp schools, ensuring our youth are equipped to avoid crime and pursue meaningful opportunities,” he added.
He reassured residents that his administration’s efforts are driven by collective interest, not personal gain, aiming to establish a resilient and self-sustaining system for future generations.
“Our focus is not on private enterprises but on building a state that all can be proud of. This year, we will achieve significant milestones across various sectors,” Fubara vowed.
In his welcome address, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, commended the governor for his leadership amid challenges, describing him as a unifying figure and a defender of Rivers’ interests.
Similarly, Hon. Awaji-Inombek Abiante, representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency, praised Fubara’s leadership during a toast, calling on all Rivers citizens to join hands in rebuilding the state for future generations.
Fubara concluded by urging residents to continue their support in 2025, reiterating his commitment to delivering progress and prosperity for Rivers State.
