OFFICIAL: William Troost-Ekong Joins Saudi League Side Al Kholood Club
Nigerian international William Troost-Ekong has completed a move to Saudi Arabian club Al Kholood, signing a two-year contract with an option for a third year. The 30-year-old center-back transfers from Greek Super League champions PAOK Thessaloniki, where he played for one season and contributed to the team’s league title victory.
In a heartfelt farewell message, Troost-Ekong expressed his appreciation to PAOK’s president, staff, medical team, coach Lucescu, and his teammates. He reflected on the memorable moments they shared, including the championship triumph and unforgettable European matches.
“Dear PAOK, after an amazing year and season in Thessaloniki, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to share and be part of those moments with you,” Troost-Ekong stated.
He continued, “I want to thank the president, club staff, medical team, General Lucescu, assistants, and especially my teammates who have become my family, for the belief and hard work that resulted in an unforgettable championship and special European nights.
“To the fans, thank you for the support through difficult times. Toumba is something special, and now I understand what MONO PAOK means. I wish everyone another successful season and I will continue to follow PAOK. All the best.”
PAOK also recognized Troost-Ekong’s valuable contributions to their championship-winning campaign, highlighting his 24 appearances, along with a goal and an assist. Al Kholood, who were recently promoted to the Saudi top-flight, have made Troost-Ekong their sixth signing of the summer, aiming to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
This move marks a new chapter in Troost-Ekong’s career as he brings his experience and leadership to Al Kholood in the competitive Saudi League.
