The suspended traditional ruler of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, has been remanded at a correctional facility in Ilaro, Ogun State, following his arraignment before the Ifo Magistrate Court.
Oba Ogunjobi is facing a three-count charge filed by the Nigeria Police Force, which includes conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to breach public peace. His arraignment stems from a viral video allegedly showing him verbally and physically assaulting an elderly chief, Areola Abraham.
During the court hearing on Tuesday, the monarch pleaded not guilty to all charges. However, the magistrate set his bail at ₦5 million, with additional conditions requiring two sureties, each depositing ₦5 million.
As he was unable to meet the bail requirements at the time of reporting, the traditional ruler was ordered to remain in custody.
The case has been adjourned to March 6, allowing both the prosecution and defense teams time to prepare for the next hearing.
