Nigerian content creator Olamide Ogunleye, popularly known as Oluwadolarz, recently took to social media to share a troubling experience involving an unnamed individual in the entertainment sector.
In an Instagram story posted on Sunday night, the comedian and musician disclosed that a purportedly influential entertainer claimed he would only promote Oluwadolarz’s music in exchange for sexual favors.
Oluwadolarz recounted the encounter, saying the individual insisted he must engage in a sexual act before endorsing his music or assisting him in climbing the charts. He wrote, “You will promote my songs. Endorse my music. Help me top the chart. But first, I must bend over for you. E.n.k.r sir.”
Though primarily recognized as a comedian, Oluwadolarz has ventured into music, remixing trending songs and collaborating with various artists.
In 2018, he released a version of Olamide Badoo’s popular track, “Science Student,” which reportedly displeased the artist. Despite this, Olamide had previously shared Oluwadolarz’s rendition of “Wo” on Instagram, though he did not do the same for “Science Student.”
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Oluwadolarz clarified that he never intended to upset Olamide. “When I did a version of ‘Wo,’ Olamide shared it on his Instagram page, so I thought he would appreciate this one too. Before I learned he was unhappy with my take, I had some concerns myself. However, when I met him at a video shoot, he didn’t mention it; he just greeted me and said it was nice to meet me,” he explained.
Oluwadolarz speculated that Olamide’s dissatisfaction might have arisen because his video revealed aspects of the song that were meant to be hidden. He recognized the anti-drug message present in Olamide’s original video, noting, “If you watch his video closely, you will see that he was advocating against drug use.”
Additionally, in an August 4, 2024, Oluwadolarz expressed that regardless of his success, he will always view himself as an emerging talent. Earlier this year, he collaborated with Smile T on a music single titled “Fuchor Me.”
