President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his re-election victory in the Ondo State governorship election held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner after he garnered 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rival, Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 117,845 votes.

Peaceful Process and INEC’s Performance

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the peaceful conduct of the election, describing it as a testament to the maturity of Ondo State’s political landscape.

He commended INEC for its preparation and the efficiency of uploading over 98% of the results on the same day. Tinubu noted that the exercise further validated the electoral body’s capability to deliver credible elections in Nigeria.

Security and Call for Post-Election Peace

The President also appreciated the professionalism of the Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Youth Service Corps, the military, and other security agencies for ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

Tinubu called on all political actors to maintain the orderly conduct demonstrated during the election, urging those dissatisfied with the outcome to seek redress through the judicial system.

Message to Aiyedatiwa and the Ondo People

Tinubu congratulated Aiyedatiwa and all other candidates from the 17 political parties that participated, acknowledging their contributions to the democratic process.

This marks a continuation of the APC’s leadership in Ondo State, as the party consolidates its presence in the South-West region.
