Opposition Party Clinches Victory in Etche LGA Election, Rivers State

Uzodinma Nwafor, the candidate representing the Action Alliance (AA), has emerged as the winner of the Etche Local Government Area (LGA) chairman election, which took place on October 5, 2024.

Adolphus Enebeli, Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), announced the results in Port Harcourt, confirming that Nwafor garnered the highest number of votes in the contest.

The Action Alliance also won all 19 councillorship seats in Etche LGA, marking a clean sweep for the opposition party.

It is noteworthy that the state’s governor, Siminalayi Fubara, belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which opted to boycott the election following court rulings unfavorable to the party.
