Nigerian singer Oxlade is making waves after an interview where he disclosed that he dropped out of Lagos State University (LASU) because cultists constantly harassed him for being a “fine boy.” According to Oxlade, the harassment escalated to the point where he had to flee for his life.

His claim has sparked debate, with new generation LASU alumni dismissing it, citing examples like dancer Poco Lee and singer Bella Shmurda, who both attended the university. However, Bella Shmurda also faced similar issues, leading to his exit after releasing Cash App with Zlatan.

Veteran LASU alumni, however, have supported Oxlade’s story, clarifying that “fine boy” wasn’t just about physical appearance. They noted that, at one point, innocent-looking students were often targeted by cultists. Experts further explained that “fine boy” is a slang used by a specific group, known as A***a, adding more context to the situation.

The conversation around cultism in Nigerian universities continues to be a sensitive topic.
