Pastor Bolaji Denies Allegations of N1.5 Billion Fraud, Distances Himself from Real Estate

Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), has denied involvement in allegations of a N1.5 billion fraud tied to a real estate scheme, currently under investigation by the Nigerian police.

Following his release from police custody in Abuja, reportedly facilitated by interventions from influential figures in Aso Rock and prominent clergy, Pastor Idowu stated unequivocally that he has no connections to real estate. He disclosed that the only property he owns is an inheritance from his late parents.

“The only property I have in Nigeria is the one my late parents bequeathed to me. I am not into real estate. We are victorious on all sides,” Idowu said.

Reports earlier revealed that Pastor Idowu was arrested by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja and was expected to spend a night in custody. Sources alleged that the case stemmed from a real estate scheme involving one of his church pastors, which reportedly defrauded several individuals.

Investigations reportedly traced large sums of money linked to the scheme from the church’s account to Pastor Idowu’s personal account. Following pressure from top-level figures, including President Tinubu’s Aso Villa, Pastor Idowu was released late in the evening. According to sources, he has been instructed to repay the money traced to his account within two weeks.

Founded in December 2003, Harvesters International Christian Center has grown significantly, with locations in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The church claims to attract over 70,000 worshippers both online and in person.

Pastor Idowu is also known for his “Next Level Prayers” platform, which encourages participants to strengthen their prayer lives both online and offline.

As the investigation unfolds, Pastor Idowu maintains his innocence, distancing himself and his church from any fraudulent activities.
