Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his gratitude to the artists, residents, and organizers who made the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 an unforgettable experience.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation for the performers who graced the New Year countdown, saying,
“A heartfelt thank you to the incredible artists who honoured Lagos’ call to perform and made the night unforgettable—Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, and many more.
“Your talent and passion lit up the stage and brought joy to every corner of Lagos. Last night, Lagos came alive in a way that only Lagos can!”
He described the atmosphere as “electric,” highlighting the energy and unity displayed by Lagosians during the event. The governor added,
“Thank you for showing the world the true Lagos spirit. It was a celebration like no other. Lagos is home. Together, we ushered in 2025 with unmatched energy and pride.”
The #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 kicked off across five major locations in the state—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe. The grand stage at Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island served as the focal point of the festivities.
The celebration featured star-studded performances and vibrant displays, making it a remarkable way for residents and visitors to welcome the New Year.
