Port Harcourt Refinery Resumes Operations, Begins Processing 60,000 BPD – NNPCL

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced that the Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State has officially resumed crude oil processing.
Femi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that the refinery will operate at 60% capacity, processing 60,000 barrels per day (BPD).
“This marks a monumental achievement for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially begins crude oil processing,” Soneye shared via X (formerly Twitter). He expressed optimism about the impact, stating that this milestone represents a new chapter for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic development.

Soneye also extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and GCEO Mele Kyari for their leadership and commitment to revitalizing the refinery. He added that truck loading would commence immediately and highlighted NNPCL’s efforts to bring the Warri Refinery online soon.
The resumption of production at the Port Harcourt Refinery marks the end of several delayed timelines for its revival.
