Real Madrid secured a commanding 5-0 victory against fourth-tier side Deportivo Minera on Monday, booking their place in the Copa del Rey last 16 with ease.
First-half goals from Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Arda Guler set the tone for the Spanish giants, who dominated the match from start to finish. Luka Modric added a fourth, and Guler completed his brace late in the game to seal the emphatic win.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti opted to rest several key players in preparation for the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia later this week. Stars Kylian Mbappé and VinÃcius Júnior only featured as second-half substitutes.
Valverde opened the scoring early with a well-timed volley at the back post, giving Madrid the lead. Just 13 minutes in, Camavinga doubled the advantage with a powerful header. Despite Endrick coming close to a third, it was Guler who found the net before halftime, his effort taking a deflection after a clever run from the right.
In the second half, Brahim Diaz hit the post before Modric, at 39 years old, curled in a brilliant strike to further extend the lead. Guler rounded off the night with a composed finish, assisted by Fran Garcia, capping a standout performance for the young Turkish playmaker.
Elsewhere in the competition, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid also cruised into the next round, while defending champions Athletic Bilbao narrowly advanced after a penalty shootout against third-tier Logroñes.
The draw for the Copa del Rey last 16 will take place on Wednesday, with fixtures scheduled between January 14 and 16.
