The Rivers State Police Command has elevated 119 officers to higher ranks in recognition of their dedication and service. The promotion ceremony, held in Port Harcourt on Friday, was presided over by the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Olugbenga Adepoju.
Speaking during the event, CP Adepoju noted that the officers earned their promotions through hard work and commitment to the Force over the years. He emphasized that this elevation comes with increased responsibilities, urging the officers to uphold the image of the Police.
“As you are promoted, remember that more is expected of you. There are greater responsibilities now, and you must work harder than ever. Uphold the name of the Force, be more serious, and carry the image of the Police with pride,” the CP stated.
Warning Against Misconduct
CP Adepoju also cautioned officers against negligence, corruption, and human rights violations. He warned that any officer found engaging in unprofessional conduct would face disciplinary action. Additionally, he urged the newly promoted officers to strengthen relationships with the public and actively embrace community policing in their areas of operation.
He commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission for their ongoing efforts to rebrand the Force for improved service delivery.

Among the 119 officers promoted:
- 40 Superintendents of Police (SP) were elevated to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP).
