The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has vowed to enhance service delivery in 2025.
In his New Year message delivered on Thursday in Abuja, Mohammed lauded FRSC staff for their dedication, which contributed to significant achievements in 2024. He expressed the agency’s commitment to leveraging these accomplishments to further improve road safety across Nigeria.
The Corps Marshal emphasized the importance of prioritizing the welfare and training of personnel, noting that such measures would enhance their efficiency and boost service quality.
“Management is focused on implementing welfare policies that uplift morale, ensuring sustained productivity and better service delivery for the public,” Mohammed stated.
He stressed the necessity of forging strategic partnerships with stakeholders to address the persistent issue of road traffic crashes in the country. Mohammed urged Nigerians to collaborate in combating these preventable incidents with renewed vigor in the coming year.
Reflecting on 2024, Mohammed highlighted challenges such as fatal crashes, disregard for traffic laws by some drivers, and violent actions against FRSC personnel. He reaffirmed his resolve to tackle these issues head-on in 2025.
“We have repeatedly stated that road traffic crashes are not accidental; they are caused and can be prevented,” he said.
To address this, Mohammed noted that the FRSC had intensified its public awareness campaigns, incorporating town hall meetings to engage with diverse communities. He also encouraged passengers to voice concerns whenever they noticed unsafe driving behaviors, empowering them to contribute to safer roads.
“Our officers have also been instructed to maintain a civil approach to traffic management, even in the face of provocation,” he added.
The Corps Marshal expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, which he said played a pivotal role in the agency’s successes over the past year. He called on stakeholders to continue supporting the FRSC, emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility requiring collective action.
Mohammed reassured Nigerians of the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring safer highways and wished everyone prosperity and safer journeys in 2025.
