In a recent session, the Senate has confirmed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, along with six other ministerial nominees. The confirmations came after an extensive five-hour screening process.
The newly appointed ministers include:
- Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu – Minister of State, Foreign Affairs
- Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade, and Development
- Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
- Muhammadu Dingyadi – Minister of Labour and Employment
- Idi Muktar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development
- Yusuf Ata – Minister of State, Housing
- Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State, Education
Before the plenary, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved a motion to suspend the Senate’s rule, allowing Special Adviser to the President on Senate matters, Basheer Lado, to bring in the nominees. This session followed Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s recent reading of President Bola Tinubu’s letter nominating these individuals for ministerial roles.
