Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Khalid has publicly come out as gay, sharing the news on social media after being outed. The 26-year-old artist posted a brief but poignant message on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday afternoon.

“there yall go. next topic please lol,” Khalid, whose full name is Khalid Donnel Robinson, wrote, accompanied by a rainbow flag emoji.

In a follow-up post, Khalid revealed he had been “outed,” but refrained from sharing further details about the circumstances. He stated, “The world still continues to turn,” emphasizing that he was not ashamed of his sexuality but hadn’t publicly addressed it earlier because “it ain’t nobody’s business.”

Khalid reassured fans he was never “hiding” his sexual orientation and expressed gratitude for the support he received. In his final post on the topic, he noted he would no longer discuss it further. Khalid also acknowledged the encouragement of fans on his Instagram story.

This announcement comes as Khalid continues to enjoy a flourishing music career. His third studio album, Sincere, was released in August to critical acclaim. Over the years, Khalid has been nominated for six Grammy Awards and has received numerous accolades, including MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards. In 2019, he was recognized as one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his coming out, fans have rallied around the artist, celebrating his bravery and authenticity. Khalid’s announcement marks another step forward in representation within the music industry.
